We provide personalized, comprehensive pet care that is individualized to you and your pet’s needs. We are also committed to offering the most affordable options and are happy to discuss which treatment or care is best for you and your pet.

Dental

Advanced, Comprehensive Veterinary Dental Care

Regular and thorough dental care ensures a better quality of life for your pet. Preventing periodontal disease means preventing oral pain and more serious health problems later, such as heart, liver, and kidney disease.

In addition to routine cleanings, we perform extractions, growth removals, and advanced oral surgery. Ask us about our pet dental care services, and we’ll let you know what’s right for your dog or cat.

Surgery

From Minor to Major, Noninvasive to Traditional Surgeries

We perform minor and major procedures using the safest protocols, including anesthesia monitors and pain management practices. Our priority is to ensure the safety and comfort of our patients at all times.

Our veterinarians are skilled practitioners of general surgeries such as spaying and neutering, as well as advanced procedures such as orthopedic repair and removal of foreign objects. We also offer laser surgery, establishing us as area leaders in this ever-growing field.

Laser Surgery for Your Pet

Laser surgery is an option we offer in conjunction with our traditional surgeries. The benefits of laser surgery include:

  • Reduced pain—The carbon dioxide laser beam seals nerve endings as it cuts through tissue, significantly reducing post-surgical pain.
  • Reduced bleeding—The laser beam cauterizes and seals small blood vessels as it cuts, providing the surgeon with a bloodless surgical field in most procedures.
  • Reduced swelling—There is no physical contact between the laser and the surgical region, eliminating the tearing and bruising of tissue associated with traditional methods. Lymphatic vessels are also sealed, further mitigating inflammation.
  • Reduced infection—Laser energy acts as an antibacterial agent by producing high temperatures, effectively eliminating microorganisms.
  • Quicker recovery—As a result of all of the above, laser surgery provides the benefit that means the most: a quicker recovery for your dog or cat.

Pet Wellness

Dogs and cats age at approximately 7 times the rate of a human, so twice yearly physical exams and consultations help ensure your pet’s health. This helps prevent large health care bills later since conditions are typically mitigated rather than treated once they become critical and more costly.

Don’t hesitate to ask us about wellness programs for your cat or dog. We have regimens for all stages of life—puppies and kittens to senior pets—and we work with your budget and lifestyle to develop a plan that makes the most sense for you and your pet.

Internal Medicine

Veterinary Medicine: From Diagnostics to Treatment

Internal medicine refers to your pet’s internal systems and the care that’s focused on preventing, diagnosing, treating, and monitoring diseases that affect those systems. Soundside’s internal medicine practice covers the following:

  • Cardiology—Heart care
  • Endocrinology— Glandular and hormonal problems
  • Gastroenterology—Digestive problems
  • Hematology—Conditions affecting the blood
  • Infectious disease—Diagnosing and treating
  • Orthopedics—From bones and muscles to ligaments and joints
  • Pulmonology—Respiratory tract conditions

Diagnosing and Treating

We use x-rays, ultrasound, and other diagnostics to identify and evaluate your pet’s condition. We then begin treatment that may include surgery, nutritional planning, pain management, or prescription medicine.

Telemedicine

Telemedicine allows phone and internet consultations with veterinary specialists nationwide.

We routinely consult with oncologists, cardiologists, and board-certified specialists to assure accurate diagnoses and treatments.

Preventing and Monitoring

The best way to prevent and monitor internal medical issues is to have your pet on a wellness program at Soundside. Regular checkups give us a baseline to know if further diagnostics and treatments are necessary.

Diagnostics

Efficient and Accurate Diagnostics from Our In-House Lab

To get the most efficient and accurate results from your pet’s diagnostic tests, we manage our own lab on-site. We can perform the following services:

  • Electrolyte analysis
  • Chemistry analysis
  • Complete blood count (CBC)
  • Urinalysis
  • Intestinal parasite screens
  • Cytology

From diabetes and kidney failure to cancer and heart disease, these tests allow us to diagnose and begin treatment on a variety of conditions. More importantly, having a lab on-site allows us to diagnose and begin treatment as soon as possible. We also submit specimens to veterinary reference labs throughout the country for more specialized diagnostics.

Laser Therapy

Managing Pain, Improving Healing with Noninvasive Laser Technology

Laser technology is among the most important advancements in modern veterinary care. Our laser therapy services are surgery-free, drug-free treatments proven to reduce pain and speed up healing.

Laser Therapy: How it Works

A laser specialist uses a hand piece over the affected area of your pet. The hand piece delivers laser light that penetrates to the deep tissue level of the body. The affected area responds to light—an increase in energy—by increasing blood flow. This speeds up the transport of nutrients to the body’s cells and carries waste away.

Laser Therapy Benefits

Laser therapy reduces pain and inflammation. The increase in energy to the cells of the affected area speed up both tissue regrowth and the healing process. Laser therapy is also proven to have the following biological effects:

  • Anti-inflammation
  • Analgesia (pain reduction)
  • Accelerated tissue repair and cell growth
  • Faster wound healing
  • Improved vascular activity
  • Increased metabolic activity
  • Stimulation of acupuncture trigger points
  • Reduced fibrous tissue formation
  • Improved nerve function
  • Improved regulation of the immune system
